Why I started
Mangil.

My grandad was my hero.

He wanted to stay at home, comfortable and independent, for as long as possible.

Towards the end of his life, while he was living with a terminal illness, I watched everyday things become difficult. Turning on a light. Adjusting the heating. Switching on the television.

Seeing how much effort those small tasks took made me realise what a difference thoughtfully chosen technology could make.

I’ve always loved technology, but that experience gave my interest a purpose. Being able to control a light from your chair or warm a room without getting up can give you a little more control over your day. For someone whose strength or mobility is changing, that matters.

That’s why I started Mangil.

I help people make their homes easier to live in, whether they’re supporting an older family member, adapting to changing needs, or managing a busy household. Every installation starts with the person: their routines, their home, and what would make daily life easier.

The aim is simple: technology that feels easy to use, works reliably, and helps you feel comfortable in your own home.

Do I have to be good with technology?

No. We focus on routines and controls that suit you, and explain them at your pace. A family member or carer can join the walkthrough if you would like.

Can I buy the products myself?

Yes. You can choose a Mangil package, add individual devices, or buy compatible products yourself and ask Mangil for advice, setup, installation or support where appropriate.

Can you work with my existing home?

That is the starting point. We assess your wiring, lighting, heating, connectivity and door compatibility before confirming a setup. Compatibility and any extra electrical, network, smart-lock or radiator valve work are checked as part of your quote.

What is the difference between buying and subscribing?

Buying means a one-off payment for the installed package, with optional Mangil Care at £19.99/month. The planned subscription has £0 upfront and 60 monthly payments, with support included. It is planned for a later rollout, subject to availability and agreed terms. Ownership, end-of-term options and cancellation arrangements will be confirmed before any agreement.

Are cameras and smart locks included in every package?

No. The residential packages include a video doorbell. Platinum adds an exterior camera and a smart lock. Smart locks can also be quoted as an add-on, subject to door, handle and cylinder compatibility.

Is Mangil an emergency monitoring service?

No. Mangil provides smart home setup and support. Sensors and alerts support everyday awareness; they do not replace personal care, emergency services or a monitored alarm service. Mangil Care does not include 24/7 emergency response.

Where does Mangil work?

Mangil is based in Sheffield, with a planned local service area covering Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and the Peak District. Coverage and visit availability are confirmed for each home.
